Between the Lion and the Rooster: A Surreal Football Poem
A lion and a rooster meet in a stadium that dissolves, until no one is sure the match was ever played.

This surreal football poem turns a match between Morocco and France into a dream. The lion walks out of a gate that leads nowhere, the rooster steps out of a broken clock, the referee carries a mirror instead of a whistle and the ball refuses to choose a winner. By the end the stadium has vanished, and nobody asks who won.
The stadium awoke before the players.
The stands were slowly devouring the crowd.
The grass swallowed its white lines as if regretting drawing them.
The lion emerged from a gate that led nowhere.
The rooster stepped out of a broken clock that crowed without time.
The ball refused to spin.
It said it was tired of choosing winners.
Whenever the lion roared...
The stands became a forest.
Whenever the rooster cried...
The sky became a coop searching for a lost dawn.
The referee carried no whistle.
He carried a mirror.
Whoever looked into it...
Did not see a face.
But the result he feared.
The crowd was not chanting.
Tiny flags kept falling from their mouths.
Trees belonging to no nation grew in their place.
France was not wearing blue.
It wore a heavy memory.
Morocco was not wearing red.
It wore a sun that had never set.
Then the strangest thing happened.
The entire stadium vanished.
Only the ball remained...
Searching for a ground worthy of becoming a dream.
In the end...
No one asked who had won.
For everyone left wondering...
Whether the match had ever been played...
Or merely a dream dreamt by a sleeping ball beneath the head of a lion guarding a dawn that never arrives.
