The Tower That Learned to Bend: The New East Tower
In Riyadh a tower refused the straight line, and everyone who looks at it bends a little.

This prose poem reads the New East Tower Riyadh as a form that refused straightness, as if the straight line had grown tired of itself. Its facades flow like glass that froze for a moment, its interior turns around vortices of space, and at night its lights pulse like a giant heart. Imad concludes that bending can be intelligence in the face of collapse.
في الرياض، حيث كانت الأرض تكتب بالصمتIn Riyadh, where the الأرض was once written in silence
A form emerged that refused
straightness
As if the straight line had grown
tired of itself
It was not merely height
But visible motion… and time twisting
An architectural body breathing the wind
Who designed it?
They said: a daring mind broke the rule
But the truth is, the earth itself wanted to bend
To learn how to move without
collapsing
In a year that felt like a new beginning
The tower rose like an irregular heartbeat
Following no system… but creating its
own
Its façades do not stand… they flow
As if glass were liquid frozen for a
moment
Then chose to keep moving
Inside, there is no center
But vortices of space spinning endlessly
Pulling you upward… or inward
The elevators are not vertical
They tilt, twist, whisper to you
As if saying: there is no straight path to the sky
And the windows?
They are not openings… but eyes watching the city
Reflecting Riyadh… but in a way it never knew
At night, the tower becomes a
living being
Its lights pulse like a giant heart
Declaring that architecture can feel
They said: this is a modern tower
But in truth, it rebelled against modernity itself
It rejected the box… and despised the angle
In a mysterious moment, something happens
You feel the building does not hold you
But reshapes you from within
And you realize the truth
That bending is not weakness
But intelligence in the face of collapse
And so, this tower does not end at
its peak
For the peak moves with it
And everyone who looks at it… bends
a little
