Imad wrote this short parable about seeking God within, with Rumi as its traveler. Rumi wakes in a strange city of a million doors that will not open, passes through the doors of knowledge, glory, power and gold, and finds himself back at the start each time, until a voice inside tells him where the door he wants has always been.
استيقظَ الرومي في مدينةٍ غريبة.Rumi awoke in a strange city.
كان فيها مليونُ بابٍ.It held a million doors.
لكنْ لا بابَ يفتحُ.Yet none would open.
سارَ خلفَ ظلّهِ طويلاً.He followed his shadow long.
وكان الظلُّ يهربُ دائماً.The shadow always fled.
سألَ شيخاً عندَ الطريق.He asked a sage nearby.
أينَ بابُ الحقيقة؟Where is truth's door?
قالَ الشيخُ مبتسماً بهدوء.The sage smiled gently.
البابُ ليسَ هناك.The door is not there.
تابعَ الرومي رحلتَهُ وحيداً.Rumi continued alone onward.
دخلَ أبواباً لا تُحصى.He entered countless doors.
بابُ العلمِ لم يكفِه.The door of knowledge failed.
وبابُ المجدِ كانَ فارغاً.The door of glory empty.
وبابُ السلطةِ كانَ بارداً.The door of power cold.
وبابُ الذهبِ كانَ أعمى.The door of gold blind.
كلما فتحَ باباً جديداً.Each time he opened one.
وجدَ نفسهُ في البداية.He found the beginning again.
حتى تعبَ من الدوران.Until weary of circling.
وجلسَ تحتَ شجرةٍ صامتة.He sat beneath silence.
سمعَ صوتاً داخلهُ فجأةً.A voice arose within.
لماذا تبحثُ بعيداً جداً؟Why search so far?
البابُ الذي تريدهُ هنا.The door you seek here.
وضعَ يدهُ على قلبهِ.He placed a hand there.
فارتجفَ العالمُ كلهُ.The whole world trembled.
واختفتِ المدينةُ فجأةً.The city vanished suddenly.
واختفتِ الأبوابُ كلها.All doors disappeared too.
وبقيَ نورٌ صغيرٌ فقط.Only a small light remained.
عندها ابتسمَ الرومي أخيراً.Then Rumi finally smiled.
وعرفَ سرَّ الرحلةِ الطويلة.He knew the journey's secret.
من يبحثُ عن اللهِ خارجاً.Who seeks God outside.
يضيعُ بينَ ألفِ بابٍ.Gets lost among doors.
ومن يبحثُ عنهُ داخلاً.Who seeks Him within.
يجدُ ألفَ سماءٍ مفتوحة.Finds a thousand heavens.
