A Quiet Epic: Between Man and His Lord

Imad wrote this short poem on the direct relationship with God that he sees at the heart of Islam, with no mediator and no class standing between the believer and the Lord. It moves from the simplicity of the first path to the freedom to pray in one's own words, and ends on the balance of standing alone before God without being lonely.

في البداية… كان الطريق بسيطًاIn the beginning… the path was simple

لم يكن هناك باب ولا حارسThere was no door and no guard

كان القلب يعرف طريقهThe heart knew its way

وجاء الإسلام ليعيد هذا الوضوحIslam came to restore this clarity

ليقول للإنسان: أنت قريبTo tell man: you are near

لا تحتاج إلى وسيطYou do not need a mediator

ولا إلى صوتٍ يسبق صوتكNor a voice before your voice

الله ليس بعيدًا… ولا معقدًاGod is not distant… nor complicated

هو أقرب مما تظنHe is closer than you think

ليس كمثله شيءNothing is like Him

فكل ما تتخيله… ليس هوWhatever you imagine… is not Him

وهذا ليس نقصًا في الفهمThis is not a نقص in understanding

بل بداية فهمٍ أعمقBut the beginning of deeper understanding

حين تدرك أن الله أكبر من كل صورةWhen you realize God is beyond every image

تتحرر من الحاجة إلى من يشرح لكYou are freed from needing someone to explain

ومن هنا تبدأ الحريةFrom here, freedom begins

حرية أن تدعو بطريقتكThe freedom to pray in your own way

أن تخطئ وتتعلمTo err and learn

أن تفهم وتعيد الفهمTo understand and rethink

لم يأتِ الإسلام ليبني طبقةً فوقكIslam did not come to build a class above you

بل ليزيل ما كان فوقكBut to remove what stood above you

فلا أحد يملك الغفرانNo one owns forgiveness

ولا أحد يحتكر الطريقNo one owns the path

كل إنسان يقف وحدهEvery person stands alone

لكن ليس وحيدًاBut not alone

وهنا التوازن الجميلHere lies the beautiful balance

أن تكون مسؤولًا… ومطمئنًاTo be responsible… and at peace

حرًا… ومتصلاًFree… yet connected

بسيطة هي الفكرةThe idea is simple

لكنها عميقة جدًاYet deeply profound

أن تكون بينك وبين الله علاقة مباشرةTo have a direct relationship with God

دون خوفٍ من بشر Without fear of البشر

ودون حاجةٍ إلى سلطةWithout need for authority

فإذا تعقّد الطريقIf the path becomes complicated

تذكّر بساطته الأولىRemember its original simplicity

وإذا كثر الكلامAnd if words multiply

ارجع إلى قلبكReturn to your heart

ففيه… البدايةIn it… is the beginning

وفيه… الطريقAnd in it… the path
