The Epic of Tekkiyeh Suleimaniyah: When Architecture Became a Refuge for the Stranger
ملحمة التكية السليمانية: حين أصبحت العمارة مأوًى للغريب
Ten chapters read the Tekkiyeh Suleimaniyah in Damascus, built for Sultan Suleiman to Sinan's design from 1554 on the site of the Ablaq Palace, as architecture of mercy: its restrained dome and minarets, its courtyard, lodging and kitchen for pilgrims, the later Salimiyya school, and an imagined pilgrim's night of rest within its walls.
