This Park Güell poem walks through Gaudí's garden in the hills of Barcelona, where paths refuse to run straight and nothing obeys the ruler. Imad climbs the grand staircase past the blue salamander, sits on the long serpentine bench of broken tiles, and stands in the Hall of Columns, eighty-six columns rising like a forest that dreamed of becoming a temple.

In the embrace of Barcelona’s hills,

Where sea and sky embrace,

And the city slows

To listen to the whispers of the wind,

Lies a garden unlike any garden on Earth.

It is not a park.

Nor an urban project.

Nor merely a tourist masterpiece.

It is a state of dreaming.

A poem of stone, trees, and light.

A place where nature decided

To learn the language of architecture,

And architecture decided

To become a child once again.

O Park Güell,

Gaudí’s earthly paradise,

Within you, paths refuse to be straight.

For straight lines are the law of man,

But curves

Belong to trees,

To rivers,

To clouds,

And to dreams.

Here nothing obeys the ruler.

Everything obeys life.

The stairways twist like mythical serpents.

The benches ripple like ocean waves.

The columns rise from the earth

As tree trunks rise from the soil.

Even stone itself

Appears to be a living being

Breathing slowly beneath the sun.

And when you ascend the grand staircase,

You do not feel you are climbing stone.

You are ascending an idea.

Ascending a dream.

Ascending toward a world

Not yet corrupted by calculations.

There,

Sits the immortal blue salamander.

Guardian of the garden.

The most famous creature in Gaudí’s universe.

Not a statue.

But a petrified spirit.

As if emerging from an ancient legend

And chose to rest here forever.

And above,

The great terrace stretches

Like a balcony suspended between earth and heaven.

There visitors sit,

Yet few realize

That they sit upon one of the greatest architectural poems

Ever written by a human being.

That long serpentine bench

Is not merely a bench.

It is a river of mosaics.

A sea of colors.

An eternal celebration of joy.

Every fragment of ceramic

Was once something else.

Then became beauty.

As if Gaudí wished to say:

Nothing is wasted in this universe.

Even broken things can become art.

Beneath the Hall of Columns,

Stone stands like a forest.

Eighty-six columns

Holding up the sky above visitors.

Yet they are not merely columns.

They are fossilized trees.

A forest that once dreamed

Of becoming a temple.

And when you gaze upon the city from above,

You see all of Barcelona

Like an open painting.

And the sea shimmering on the horizon.

And suddenly you understand

Why Gaudí never built buildings.

He built worlds.

He created places

Where humanity reconciles with itself.

With the earth.

With the sky.

O Park Güell,

You are not a garden.

You are an eternal declaration

That imagination is a real force.

And beauty a spiritual necessity.

And that architecture,

When placed in the hands of a poet,

Can become

A forest of dreams,

A prayer of colors,

And a small fragment of paradise

Planted upon the hills of Barcelona.
